19th Century French Aubusson Harvest Tapestry Framed Panel 9.5 Ft
$9,800.00
A monumental 19th Century grand-scale French framed tapestry panel depicting a provincial orchard harvest scene in the Aubusson style. The large framed panel measures over 9.5 feet high including the massive frame. The scene depicts a young woman poised on a ladder reaching for ripened fruit while companions assist below with baskets. The scene is rendered in a soft French countryside farmhouse landscape. Executed in a soft palette of light and honeyed neutrals and browns, the composition channels French pastoral imagery associated with Aubusson, Continental style, and the Louis XVI decorative arts. The field is decorated with charming pink and red accents. The tapestry is presented in a later substantial wood frame with an intentionally distressed antiqued wood finish and an opulent gilt inner accent lining. The back shows stretcher supports and cross bracing. The sight of the tapestry measures 102" high by 46" wide. The tapestry is in exceptional condition having age appropriate fading and wear as seen in photos. Framed, mounted, and displayed on a large dramatic scale. The frame is very heavy with strong joinery and excellent craftsmanship. From the estate of late California Senator Dianne Feinstein (1933-2023) San Fransisco, California.
