A refined mid-century modern two-door storage cabinet sideboard server designed by Tommi Parzinger (Germany 1903-1981) for Charak Furniture Company, Boston, Mass. The versatile piece features a blonde beech hardwood veneer construction fronted by two doors with a radiating book-matched design pattern. The rectangular case sits atop a stepped and carved plinth base, giving the cabinet a subtle floating effect. The design is executed in an American Mid-Century Modern style with clean lines and balanced proportions. The doors are fitted with two large round patinated brass pull knobs. The interior is fitted with one full-size and one half-size drawer with finger-pull openings, along with a single fixed shelf. The beech wood veneer is finished in an attractive warm honey tone. Crafted in a mix of Mid-Century Modern, Hollywood Regency, and Art Deco inspiration after similar pieces by T.H. Robsjohn-Gibbings and John Widdicomb. The cabinet is well-suited for a variety of spaces measuring only 38" inches wide for use as a sideboard, credenza, storage cabinet, console, or nightstand. The cabinet has its original as-found finish condition having an aged patina and visible light wear to the veneered finish. The case is sturdy and solid with strong joinery and construction. Also available from the same estate is a drop-leaf expanding "Danbury" bleached mahogany dining table designed by Tommi Parzinger for Charak furniture with its original label.
