19th Country French Provincial Painted Bench or Footstool

Charming late 19th century country French provincial bench seat or footstool featuring a lacquer painted finish. The carved wood frame has serpentine arms on each side and is supported by cabriole legs in the Queen Anne or Louis XV taste. The apron is decorated with delicate painted floral reserves. The painted finish has a desirable aged patina with losses and craquelure giving the bench charm and character. Solid and sturdy with a removable padded seat having a soft upholstery.
