Serene Japanese Showa period four panel folding byobu screen depicting three quail amid autumn grasses and flowers (Chinese bell-flowers/Kikkyo and Pampas grass/obana). Made in the Nihonga School style with Rimpa school embellishments. The autumn landscape is painted over a dramatic gold leaf background and set in an ebonized frame with a silk brocade border. Signed by artist Uto with a seal Uto Dai. Very good well preserved condition as seen in phots with one tiny puncture loss to front that is difficult to see. Beautiful details and brush work. From an estate in San Francisco, California.
