English Chinoiserie Decorated Flora and Fauna Folding Screen
$5,800.00
A striking English 20th century four-panel folding screen executed in a rich forest green, embellished with finely rendered flowering branches, leafy sprays, and garden botanicals in the chinoiserie revival taste. The flora and fauna composition unfolds across the four panels as a continuous scene, depicting arching boughs with white blossoms and verdant foliage above a stylized landscape with charming hand-drawn details in the asian aesthetic. The painting is executed on canvas over a large wooden frame. The screen features an array of dazzling colors, including a forest-green ground with accents of celadon, ivory, sage, ochre, and terra cotta. The panels have an attractive time-worn weathered patina from age, giving the piece a desirable aged authentic finish. The delicate line work and gentle shading evoke the elegance and craftsmanship of European Chinoiserie style decor. Made in the style and manner of Gracie Studio. Each panel measures 18" wide for a total width of approximately 72". One of the end panels in detached from the others. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.
