Donghia Shelter-Arm Sofa Fortuny Style Damask Champagne Fabric

$4,800.00

An elegant shelter-arm form sofa in a Fortuny attributed champagne and ivory damask upholstery designed by John Hutton for Donghia in the grand English Regency style. The sofa features a dramatic broad squared case, flared arms, and a straight flat back paired with luxurious shimmery upholstery. The regal frame design is reminiscent of the 17th century British Knole sofa designs having an even back and arm height. The Fortuny attributed upholstery is woven in a damask silk style and finished in a champagne or warm golden beige. The fabric is decorated with neoclassical style scrolling acanthus, and bird motifs having ivory or cream accents, creating an elegant and lustrous palette. The sofa includes three fitted loose seat cushions and a full-length tailored skirt with corner pleats and crisp seams at edges. The case is sturdy and strong with excellent joinery and craftsmanship. The upholstery while being vintage still shows well and is very presentable. The bespoke sofa was custom ordered for an estate in San Francisco, CA. Maker's label under seat cushion.
