Gorgeous pair of carved walnut gondola chairs featuring dolphins. Crafted in the grand Napoleonic French empire taste with a curved crestrail and intricately carved splat centered by entwined dolphins and X-form arrows in the neoclassical style. The sides of the chair frames have gracefully curved arms ending with mythical heads. The backs and aprons are decorated with carved floral motifs. The frames are newly upholstered in a Scalamande fabric with a neutral woven material having a geometric pattern over a subtle green background in the Napoleon taste. The chairs are sturdy and strong in very good well-preserved condition with excellent joinery and craftsmanship. Sold as a pair. Perfect as hall chairs or accent chairs.
