Country English Style Hump Back Crewel Work Settee

Charming William and Mary or country English style walnut settee custom made by Louis Mittman. The settee features a beautifully crafted walnut frame upholstered in a Brunschwig and Fils style crewel work fabric. The fabric has a spectacular floral and foliate motif in a festive red tone. The sofa has winged sides and decorative patinated brass tack nail heads on the borders. The seat has a large fitted loose seat cushion filled with down. The case is supported by turned legs and stretchers with an intentionally aged patina on the wood to mimic age. Dramatic profile with a red velvet back. Excellent joinery and craftsmanship that is very solid and sturdy.
