Set of Ten Minton-Spidell Country French Painted Dining Chairs

$9,800.00

A distinguished set of ten Country French Provincial, or Louis XV-style dining chairs artisan made by Minton-Spidell, Los Angeles, CA. The grand set is comprised of two host fauteuil armchairs and eight tall side chairs. Each distinctive chair features a hand-carved hardwood frame with a shaped crest rail and shield-form back. The armchairs are crafted with large out-swept arms with scrolled ends supported by curved arm posts. The chairs sit atop graceful cabriole legs ending in carved hoof feet, connected by serpentine seat rails with scrolled accents. The frames are finished in a pale celadon green with a beautiful intentionally distressed craquelure finish to mimic age. Curving gilt accents line the apron and legs. The backs and seats are finished in a woven chenille cream and gold fabric with a foliate pattern. The chair frames are sturdy and solid with excellent joinery and craftsmanship. The set is crafted with classical Louis XV style or country French provincial silhouettes, while the fabric and palette give the chairs an old-world Italianate Rococo style flair, well-suited for a variety of spaces. The frames are intentionally weathered with a lightly distressed patina. Measurements listed are of side chairs. Armchairs measure 25.5" wide, 24" deep, 43.5" tall, and have arms measuring 25.5" tall. Minton-Spidell labels are present underneath the seats. Sold as a set of ten.
