A beautifully crafted and rare set of six woven rattan cane "Umbria" dining armchairs designed by Orlando Diaz-Azcuy for McGuire, San Francisco, CA. Each distinctive chair features a sculptural rounded barrel back and sides embellished with tightly hand-woven rattan peeled cane over a hardwood frame. The chairs are crafted with a gently flared silhouette descending down into broad curved integrated arms. The woven cane is left in its natural blonde finish with a fine soft texture, accented by the chairs honey-toned hardwood frames. The chairs sit atop straight tapered front legs and gently curved saber back legs. Each chair is fitted with a loose seat cushion in a solid chartreuse green over a generous seat. The frames are sturdy and solid having excellent joinery and craftsmanship in exceptional condition as seen in photos. Inspired by the elegant Italian lounge furniture of the 1920s. The large chairs are crafted in an elegant blend of California Coastal, Organic Modern, and tropical Palm Beach styles, suitable for a variety of spaces as dining, lounge, occasional, or armchairs.
