A handsome labeled pair of Neoclassical curule-form "d'Orsay" bench seats or ottomans designed by Michael Taylor, San Francisco, CA. Each curule bench features a thick rectangular seat in blonde camel leather upholstery outlined by a continuous lining of decorative brass nail-heads over a subtly curved and carved frieze apron. The supporting frame is carved out of a honey-toned hardwood in twin reeded arcs crossed at a central carved rosette medallion, giving the pair a neoclassical Greco-Roman inspiration. The carved bases sit on tightly scrolled feet and are joined by a turned stretcher. Crafted in an elegantly modern Neoclassical style, the pair is well-suited for a variety of interiors as benches, ottomans, stools, or accent pieces. The stools are sturdy and solid having excellent joinery and craftsmanship in exceptional condition with a nicely aged patina on the finish as seen in photos. Each retains an original Michael Taylor maker's plaque to the underside. Sold as a pair. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.
