Pair of McGuire Organic Modern Rattan and Cane Armchairs
$3,800.00
A genuine signed pair of rattan and cane armchairs or library chairs made by McGuire, San Francisco, CA. The pair features bent rattan pole frames joined by McGuire's signature leather rawhide lashing joinery. The chairs are crafted in a barrel back silhouette with a sweeping crest rail leading downwards into open rattan arms. The back is inset with tightly woven cane panels framed by rattan poles. The chairs stand on straight front legs and splayed rear legs, joined by an X-form stretcher and arched bent supports on the sides and back. Each chair is fitted with a loose off-white canvas cushion with intentionally frayed stripe patterns on the fabric. The cushions sit on top of a rattan spindle seat deck. The gently aged rattan, cane, leather, and bamboo are finished in varied tones of honey, caramel, and natural bamboo with a desirable authentic patina. The rattan frames are solid and strong having excellent joinery and craftsmanship in exceptional condition. The set comes from a dry non-humid, mold free California climate. The pair is crafted in a distinct mix of Mid-Century Organic Modern, Palm Beach Tropical, and California Coastal styles, well-suited for use in a variety of spaces. McGuire manufacturer's plaques are present on the underside. Arms of the chairs measure 23" tall. Sold as a pair. From an estate in Carmel, CA.
