A gorgeous decorative 20th century hand-carved bowl crafted in a Neoclassical Greco-Roman style out of radiant African Bubinga rosewood, and walnut by artist Gene Short. The distinctive piece features a dramatic elevated deep hemispherical bowl carved into the walnut top, raised on a base of twelve ringed columnar legs arranged in trios at each corner in the style of classical Greco-Roman colonnades. The bowl showcases fascinating woodgrain patterns on every side having radiant depth. The piece is finished in a variety of polished red-brown tones from the layered blend of Bubinga rosewood, and walnut. Beautifully crafted with excellent joinery and craftsmanship in exceptional condition as seen in photos. Signed and dated by the artist Gene Short on the underside of the piece. Well-suited for use as an accent piece, decorative bowl, or a vide-poche catchall dish. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.
