Mario Papperzini Mid-Century Amalfi Iron Patio Garden Armchair
$2,000.00
An elegant Italian mid-century modern wrought iron patio and garden dining armchair in the style of the 'Amalfi' chair designed by Mario Papperzini for John Salterini. The iconic chair features a high back with a woven lattice of flat iron straps set within a gracefully tapering frame. The back is surmounted by a concave curved crest rail terminating in two spherical ball finials. The open arms sweep outward in a slender arc, each terminating in its own ball finials mounted on a vertical support post. The seat is constructed with flat iron lattice pattern straps bowing gently to create a subtle ergonomic curve. The seat is supported by four slender, slightly tapered cylindrical legs end in small button feet, while a looping demilune stretcher unites the legs. The chair is finished in a matte black paint over an original verdigris green ground. The piece is crafted in an elegant European Neoclassical garden style with bold latticework and elegant hand-crafted wrought iron construction. The chair has sturdy solid joinery and construction with a desirable aged patina and finish as expected.
