Magnificent early 20th century French library bookcase or bibliotheque cabinet crafted from walnut. The top case features four large doors with period correct wavy glass fronts. The doors open to a shelved interior. The bottom cabinet measures 32 inches high and is fronted by four doors opening to shelved interior. Above the doors are two pull-out writing tables or book displays each having a turned wood pull. The two-part bookcase is very heavy and solid with excellent joinery and craftsmanship. The walnut has a desirable aged patina on the finish showcasing the rich woodgrains. The case is supported by bracket feet on the bottom and finished with a corniced molding on the top. Grand bookcase with a distinctive profile.
