A beautifully crafted architectural cupola finial crafted in a rustic Americana Farmhouse style out of pine and zinc. The piece features a pyramidal tin cap supported by layered pine boards in a Japanese pagoda style. Hand-cut pine plank construction and wire nail joinery exemplify 19th century American farmhouse construction. Originally used as a cupola lined with wire mesh screen vents inside to allow airflow into a barn or structure while shedding rain. The distinctive piece has been wonderfully distressed and weathered over time, with the remnants of old faded paint on the tin zinc cap and the pine being softened with age having a cerused type of finish now. The tin top also features past shotgun buckshot holes near the top. Crafted in a rustic Americana folk art style, the piece now has an authentic wabi-sabi character with its visibly worn patina. The piece is well-suited for use as a garden-ornament, an architectural accent piece, or simply as an objet d'art. From an estate in the Napa Valley, CA.
