Magnificent set of ten hand painted enameled porcelain plates made in the Qianlong period style after Lang Shining (July 1688-July 1766 Italian). Born in Milano, Italy Giuseppe Castiglione was a Jesuit and missionary who became an artist to three emperors at the Imperial Court of China. Series of paintings titled ten fine hounds depicts different dog breeds with descriptions and names in Chinese, Manchu, and Mongolian. Set in ebonized hardwood frames and painted on porcelain with a stunning orange ground. Each picture has brass mounted hangers in an Asian style. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.
