Set of Six Genuine McGuire "Cracked Ice" Rattan Dining Chairs

$6,800.00

An exceptional genuine labeled set of six McGuire "Cracked Ice" rattan armchairs (Model # MCM90) featuring the signature namesake open fretwork backs in an oval frame. Each iconic chair is crafted from warmly toned bent rattan with contrasting cream colored hand-tied rawhide leather laces on the exposed joints. The frames are finished in the most desirable  natural shade with  a honey tone. The striking backs feature an airy geometric web of rattan rods joined by cream colored rawhide leather laces to create a cracked ice or cracked glass effect. The chair was originally designed by Elinor McGuire in 1968. The arms sweep out from the backs in an elegant curve before terminating in wrapped front supports. The seat aprons have a curved spandrel in the Chinese Chippendale taste adding to the intrigue of the design. The chairs seats are topped with latter added new seat cushion, set over a woven cane seat. Original brass McGuire maker's tag and signature mother-of-pearl "M" are both included on the chairs designating them as a bespoke special order set. The chairs blend California Coastal, Organic Modern, Tropical, and Palm Beach styles, suitable for a variety of spaces. The frames are sturdy and solid having excellent joinery and craftsmanship. The rattan has a desirable aged patina on the finish with a warm honey tone as seen in photos. Arms measure 18.5" tall in the front. Sold as a set of six chairs with new seat cushions.
