Set of Six Baker Chinoiserie Greek Key Dining Chairs 1960

$20,000.00

Gorgeous mid-century set of six rare lacquered hardwood dining chairs by Baker. The set consists of four side chairs and two host armchairs 24.5 inches wide with a dramatic Greek key motif arm measuring 26 inches high. The 1960s mid-century modern design is attributed to Michael Taylor. The chairs have a thick, hardwood frame with a matte black ebonized lacquered finish. The slat back has decorative aged, distressed figural accents in gilt finish with Asian and art deco influences. The generous seats are upholstered in a chinoiserie motif with Asian figures amid blossoming florals with a cream toned background. The fabric while being vintage, shows well and is very presentable. The chairs have been restored and re-lacquered. Very rare design with a handsome profile and Asian aesthetic. Sold as a set of six.
