Set of Eight McGuire Organic Barley Twisted Rattan Dining Chairs

Set of eight rare bespoke dining chairs by McGuire executed in hand-formed twisted rattan in the California coastal organic modern style. The chairs are constructed out of thick rattan poles wrapped together to resemble rope. The barley twist style rattan is lashed together with leather rawhide laces on the exposed joints. The design features a large rounded back with a twisted crest rail and sweeping twisted arms leading down to twisted legs joined by double rattan pole X-stretchers. The chairs have a cerused or glazed finish with an intentionally weathered or washed honey-blonde lacquered patina by McGuire artisans. The chairs are finished in a rich olive green Alcantara style textile, consisting of an upholstered oval back and a loose fitted seat cushion over a rattan seat frame. The chairs blend Californian Organic Modern, Tropical, Coastal, and Palm Beach styles, suitable for a variety of spaces. The chairs include original McGuire maker's tags under the seats. Arms measure 26.25" tall. The chairs are sturdy and strong having excellent joinery and craftsmanship. The twisted rattan design is arguably McGuires' most iconic and searched for style after the famous target chairs. The twisted design was made in very low production quantities compared to their other chairs due to the labor involved. Sold as a set of eight chairs. From an estate in the Napa Valley, CA.

Attractive intentionally aged patina on painted cerused finish to mimic age as seen in photos. Age appropriate wear with minor nicks, scuffs, and marks. Minor light stains to upholstery fabric.
