Set of Eight Maitland Smith French Louis XVI Dining Chairs

Extraordinary set of eight mahogany dining chairs attributed to Maitland-Smith. The chairs feature a large tufted back with an hourglass form. The set consists of six side chairs and two host armchairs measuring 25.5 inches wide having gracefully curved flat arms measuring 24.5 inches high. The generous tufted seat is wide and comfortable upholstered with a cream toned boucle style fabric having patinated brass tack nail head trim. The frame has an elegant and sculptural waisted form with a distinctive profile. The seat apron is decorated with neoclassical carved rosettes on the corners. The chair is supported by tapered, fluted legs ending with toupie feet. Solid and strong with excellent joinery and craftsmanship. Made in the manner and style of Maitland Smith with partial order tags on bottom. Very good well-preserved in condition. From an estate in Beverly Hills, CA.
