Set of Eight Louis XVI Style Painted Dining Chairs in Blue Velvet

$6,800.00

A refined set of eight mid-20th century French dining chairs featuring painted ivory frames and patterned peacock-blue velvet upholstery crafted in the grand Louis XVI taste. The chairs feature a beech frame with distinctive square backs, fluted detailing, molded rails, and carved corner rosettes in the neoclassical style. The chairs stand on classic tapered fluted legs with turned collar rings. The seats and backs are upholstered in a dramatic deep peacock blue color patterned velvet with an embossed geometric diamond latticed motif having quatrefoil forms. The fabric is bordered by patinated brass tack nailhead trim along the perimeter. The chairs blend the French Louis XVI style with some Neoclassical influence in a Swedish Gustavian-esque or coastal palette. The chair frames are sturdy and strong with excellent joinery and craftsmanship. The frames have an intentionally aged, distressed patina on the painted finish to mimic age. Sold as a set of eight chairs. Erin Lane Estate specializes in European dining chairs with over 1000 in stock ready to ship from our California warehouse.
