Maison Jansen Attributed Neoclassical Style Steel Marble Top Desk
$35,000.00
Opulent stainless steel mahogany writing table, bureau plat, or desk attributed to Maison Jansen, France. The desk features a thick slab of Carrara marble on top with thick bronzed trim. The case is crafted from rich radiant grained mahogany and covered with stainless steel. Fronted by three drawers and two large, locking storage doors. The knee hole style leg opening measures 18.5 inches wide and 24 inches from the floor to the bottom of the drawer. Made in the neoclassical taste with fluted column pilasters on the front corners. The entire desk is embellished with bronzed and brass mounts of acanthus, ribbon swag, and a large torch on each side. The case is supported by tapered and fluted bronzed mounted legs. The desk was made with painstaking attention to detail and finish. Very, very heavy and solid with excellent joinery and craftsmanship. Made in the style and manner of John Vesey's (American 1924-1992) V-60 steel bronze desks.
