Extraordinary late 17th century baroque period Portuguese library table, center table, or writing table crafted from radiant Brazilian Rosewood. The mesa bufete has a rectangular top with a decorative gadrooned edge. The desk is fronted by two storage drawers with patinated brass lock plates and pulls. The table features distinctive bobbin or spool turned legs conjoined by turned stretchers. The frieze is highly decorated with geometric carved angular designs on three sides. The finish showcases the amazing woodgrains and warm patina of the rosewood. From an estate in the Napa Valley. Retailed by C. Mariani Antiques in San Francisco, CA with a price of $39,300.
