Japanese Style Four Panel Screen Magnolia Tree with Song Birds

20th century Japanese style Showa period four-panel byobu screen depicting a spring flowering magnolia tree with blue birds. Vibrant ink and natural color pigments painted on silk covered boards. The panels are set in a lacquered wood frame with a dark gold silk brocade border. The frame is embellished with patinated brass protectors and hangers. The painting has lovely green and blue highlights that stand out against the light gold silk ground. The center joint is loose and visible when the screen is closed. From an estate in San Francisco, CA. Original order tag from the Rosewood House in Hong Kong from the 1970's on the reverse side.

Condition: Good, minor wear consistent with age and use. Beautifully crafted with minor stains, foxing, and fading as seen in photos. Center joint of screen has torn, broken joinery visible when the screen is folded.
