Pair of French Maison Jean Gilt Iron Croisillon Lounge Chairs

$20,000.00

A stunning and whimsical pair of French mid-century modern iron armchairs or lounge chairs in the manner of Maison Jean's Croisillon armchairs or lounge chairs. The dramatic pair features a gilt powder-coated tubular iron frame with "croisillon" lattices of undulating iron rods filling the side and back galleries. The frames are constructed with a gently curved crest rail, tall canted arms, and low seats fitted with an iron bar deck. The chairs sit atop slender legs ending in turned ball feet. Each is finished in a new sleek soft metallic gold tone powder-coated finish and is fitted with a pale ivory velvet fabric seat cushion. The frames are solid and heavy with excellent joinery and craftsmanship in exceptional condition. The vintage fabric is well preserved and very presentable. The pair is crafted in a blend of French Mid-Century Modern and Neoclassical styles. Well-suited for use indoors or outdoors in a sunroom, pool house, or garden, on a terrace or balcony, or poolside. The rare chairs have been produced by several French Maison ateliers and also by Milling Road from Baker in the 1990's. The pair showcase an iconic French profile and dramatic scale. Sold as a pair. Arms of the chairs measure 24" tall.
