Timothy Oulton Glacier Coffee Table Burnt Timber in Lucite 6 Ft
$6,800.00
A striking and rare modern “Glacier” coffee cocktail table designed by Timothy Oulton. Hand-crafted from massive burnt timbers encased in clear crystalline acrylic or lucite. This substantial table combines rugged charred burnt timber with a crisp modern acrylic silhouette, creating a unique and dramatic centerpiece. The rectangular top is composed of long charred timber sections set within thick crystalline acrylic, producing the effect of weathered burnt wood frozen in ice. The surface displays a richly varied palette of charcoal black, ash gray, chalk white, and weathered brown, all floating within clear acrylic. The acrylic gives a very subtle light blue accent to the grey wood. The table is raised on two bold rectangular pedestal bases, formed from vertically arranged burnt timber elements the at give the top a floating effect. The transparent acrylic edges add a refined contrast to the raw, elemental timber, balancing a rustic and organic materiality with a sharp modern industrial edge. Timothy Oulton's website describes the piece: "Glacier's epic contrast of burnt timbers encased in ice-cool acrylic evokes a distinct sizzle, like the moment when volcanic lava spills into the sea: sparks, steam, and fizz." The unique piece blends organic and rustic textures with brutalist and modern style, making the piece well suited for a variety of spaces. The table is the largest size that was produced by the designer measuring nearly 6 feet long. The piece is very heavy and solid with exceptional craftsmanship and construction.
