Southeast Asian Bronze Rain Drum Drink Table with Verdigris

Substantial and rare Shan style Southeast Asian patinated cast bronze rain drum or frog drum that could serve as a side or drink table. The bronze drum has a waisted form and is typically from east Burma or Myanmar made by the tribes of the Karen people. The drum has loop handles on each side for hanging. The top and sides are decorated with concentric circles and the top is centered by a sunburst or star motif. The flat, round top has four stacks of frogs on top of each other. The side of the drum has a line of three graduating elephants in a row. Very heavy and large the bronze features an applied finish with verdigris.
