Set of Six Japanese Edo Panels Tale of Taishokkan


Extraordinary set of six Japanese Edo period panels featuring the tale of Taishokkan or the great woven cap. 17th-century tale with themes of duty, romance, and self-sacrifice. Each picture is professionally mounted in a later wood frame painted red with gold flecks. Vivid ink and natural color pigments tell the interesting tale with fascinating details. The top and bottom of each panel is decorated with gold leaf squares with an aged patina. Beautifully illustrated with characters and dragons. From an estate in Bel Air, CA.
