Set of Six English Regency Style Parcel Gilt Lacquered Dining Armchairs

Magnificent set of six English lacquered dining armchairs made in the classic regency taste. The set consists of all armchairs painstakingly crafted to mimic late 18th century Prince George of Wales Regent design with neoclassical styling cues. The frames are ebonized with traces of red lacquer showing through having a craquelure finish accented with gilt. The square backs have gracefully curved arms supported by animals paws. The legs and back supports have a distinctive faux rope twist. The opulent frames are inspired by Greek klismos designs. Intentionally aged and distressed patina on the painted finish with excellent joinery and craftsmanship. Dramatic profile and finish. Provenance: From the estate of artist Ira Yeager (American 1938-2022) in Calistoga, CA.
