Set of Five Queen Anne Style Chinoiserie Lacquered Dining Chairs

Impressive set of five lacquered dining chairs made in the chinoiserie revival period of the early 20th century. The English Queen Anne styled chairs were crafted with hardwood frames having an ebonized or Japanned finish. Decorated with parcel gilt hand-painted idyllic Asian scenes in a moriage (raised pigment) style on each backplate. The arms, legs, and back are embellished with floral and foliate patterns. The set consists of four side chairs and one host armchair measuring 25 inches wide and 22 inches deep. The armchair has a Regency style shepherds crook arm. The vintage red upholstered seats are slightly faded but still presentable. The seats are supported by cabriole legs ending with pad feet. From an estate in Bel Air, CA.
