Set of Eight Hitchcock Style Stenciled Rush Seat Dining Chairs

American classical set of eight New England style stenciled dining chairs made in the manner of Lambert Hitchcock. The painted chairs feature a rush seat and the frames are embellished with parcel gilt thread accents. The set consists of six side chairs and the two host armchairs with large scrolled arms measuring 21 inches wide and 20 inches deep. The back slats are decorated with cornucopias of fruit and vine patterns. The delicate frames have a dark red finish with an intentionally distressed finish to mimic age. The rush seats are supported by turned legs ending with ball feet. From an estate in Napa Valley, CA.
