Each chair is constructed of carved beech hardwood finished in an intentionally aged cream or ivory-toned paint with parcel-gilt highlights. The frames are constructed in a classical French Louis XVI-style with upholstered scroll-backs in the Regency taste. The backs are framed by curved stiles that sweep upward and terminate in tightly coiled gilt scroll finials. The chairs are supported by front turned and fluted legs descending from carved corner blocks embellished with oval carved accents. The front feet are turned with a gilt banding and collar accent, while the rear legs are squared and gently splayed back. The seat, back, and arm panels are upholstered in a warm champagne-toned woven textile with a small basketweave pattern, finished with an applied gimp trim. The two fauteuil armchairs are distinguished with open padded arms supported by twist columns. The chair frames are sturdy and strong having solid joinery and construction. The painted finish has an intentionally weathered finish to mimic age. Measurements shown are for side chairs. Armchairs measure 25\" wide, 26\" deep, 38.5\" tall, 19\" seat height, and 27.5\" arm height. The chairs have a distinctive profile and lovely gilt highlights accented by the romantic cream toned finish. Sold as a set of eight.
