Set of 10 French Louis XVI Style Walnut Caned Dining Chairs


Extraordinary 19th century set of ten French dining chairs made in the Louis XVI taste Paris, France by "Les Fils d'Alfred Wimphen", 1860-1890 crafted from walnut having a caned seat back. The caned back gracefully curves and conjoins to a round molded seat with a linen covered cushion. The seat is supported with tapered and fluted legs in the front ending with toupie feet. Four of the chairs have a decorative faux rope carving on the seat backs as seen in photos. Excellent joinery and craftsmanship made by the sons of Alfred Wimphen in Paris with some chairs still retaining the original makers tag on bottom. Elegant chairs with a timeless style.
