Pair of Swedish Gustavian Style Painted Demilune Benches

Grand pair of matching painted demi-lune form benches made in the Louis XVI Swedish Gustavian taste. The benches feature a painted frame with an intentionally aged, distressed patina on the finish. The frames have a molded apron decorated with carved neoclassical rosettes on the tops of the legs. The benches are supported by tapered, fluted legs ending with toupie feet. The large seats are upholstered with a linen style fabric having a tufted finish. The painted frame has small gilt accents on the distressed finish. The benches are sturdy and solid with excellent joinery and craftsmanship. The fabric is bordered by brass tack nail heads. Sold as a pair. The benches also fit together to form a large oval seating area.
