Pair of Regency Style Lacquered Armchairs by Theodore Alexander


Impressive pair of black lacquered armchairs having a parcel-gilt finish by Theodore Alexander. The chairs are handmade and feature a caned seat with an upholstered loose seat cushion on top. Made in the grand Regency style with neoclassical motifs of acanthus leaves and rosettes on the back splat and seat apron. The seat crest has a decorative humpback with graceful arms that curve down ending with a large scroll. The frame is channeled and accented with gilt. Supported by ring turned legs in the front that are slightly splayed on the end. Excellent joinery and craftsmanship from an estate in San Francisco, CA. Seat measures: 18 inches without the pad and arms. Arms measure: 28.5 inches high.
