Pair of Neoclassical Regency Style Ebonized Mahogany Library Chairs

Stately pair of English regency style mahogany library armchairs featuring an ebonized lacquer finish. The chairs frames have a formal flat, square back conjoined to flat arms. The frames are embellished with delicate neoclassical motifs of painted bellflowers in parcel gilt. The seats and padded arms are upholstered recently in a linen style cream colored fabric bordered with brass tack nail heads. The generous seats are supported by elegant tapered legs in the front ending with spade feet. The black lacquer has a beautifully aged patina and fading with minor wear adding to their rich character. Impressive chairs with a lovely profile from an estate in San Francisco, CA.
