Pair of Neoclassical Directoire Style Fauteuil Armchairs

Fantastic pair of French fauteuils or armchairs made in the neoclassical Directoire taste. The ornately carved frames have molded arms with lions head motif ends. The distinctive back has a klismos style tablet form backrest with geometric designs and foliate motifs. The painted frames have a beautiful distressed lacquer scraped finish with newer upholstery in a leopard or cheetah design fabric. Beautifully crafted with Louis XVI styling cues and fluted legs.
