Pair of Maison Jansen Attributed Neoclassical Steel Marble Commode Chests


Magnificent pair of steel mahogany commodes, nightstands, or chests of drawers attributed to Maison Jansen, France. The chests feature a thick carrara marble top with a polished brass stepped border. The cases are crafted from rich radiant grained mahogany and covered with stainless steel. Made in the grand neoclassical French Louis XV taste with fluted pilaster columns on the front corners. The entire pieces are embellished with polished brass mounts of ribbon swag, acanthus, and torches on the sides. The cases are supported by tapered and fluted brass mounted legs ending with sabots. Painstaking attention to detail made of the finest materials. Very heavy and solid with excellent joinery and craftsmanship. Made in the style and manner of John Vesey's (American 1924-1992) V-60 steel desks. These chests could also serve as nightstands or bedside tables matching desk also available.
