Pair of Louis XV Chinoiserie Gilt Bronze Figural Chenets

Rare and stunning pair of French Louis XV style gilt bronze figural chenets or andirons made in the chinoiserie revival taste of the early 20th century Europe. Features a beautiful verdigris patina on the gilt bronze finish. Asian male and female depicted recumbent, one holding a large bird and the other a dog. The figures are draped over a rocaille frame decorated with a seashell motif and exuberant Baroque scrolls. Increasingly rare to find chinoiserie themed chenets. These examples are unmarked or signatures have been covered up by later restoration work. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.
