19th Century Japanese Edo Six Panel Kano School Landscape Screen

Late Edo period 19th century Japanese six-panel landscape screen featuring a cypress tree over a flowering hibiscus with a pair of hototogisu birds. Kano school painted with ink and natural color pigments on hand-crafted mulberry paper signed by artist Yamamoto Tamen with seal. Set in a dark red lacquered frame with a silk brocade border. Beautiful, vibrant green colors decorate the screen with an aged patina. Some visible losses at joints as seen In photos. Provenance; Hsueth estate in Dallas, Texas, Mr. Wei Yuan Hsueth was Chinese government consul to Germany.
