Handsome pair of cigar leather wing-back library chairs made in the English George III taste. The chairs feature a large mahogany frame with fully developed wings conjoined to English rolled arms. The leather has a dramatic dark finish with patinated brass tack nails accenting the borders. Made by Hickory Chair with a generous seat having a fitted loose seat cushion. Very good, well-preserved condition with excellent joinery and craftsmanship. The leather has a desirable, soft age and wear without rips or tears to the finish. The seats are supported by reeded legs conjoined by an H shaped stretcher. Classic English profile on a large scale. Sold as a pair. From an estate in Santa Barbara, CA.
