Pair of French Maison Jansen Style Fauteuil Armchairs


Dramatic pair of French Louis XVI style fauteuil armchairs attributed to Maison Jansen. The chairs are in "as-found" condition needing replacement of distressed Fortuny upholstery. The generous frames have beautifully molded arms and seat with a flat square back. Supported by fluted, tapered legs. The ebonized lacquer finish has an aged patina with losses. Waiting to be returned to their former glory. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.

Condition: Distressed, minor wear consistent with age and use. Excellent joinery and craftsmanship with age appropriate wear. Upholstery needs replacement. Frames have an aged, chipped finish on the lacquer as seen in photos.
