Pair of French Louis XVI Style Mahogany Bergère Armchairs


Exquisite pair of French bergère armchairs or lounge chairs made in the grand Louis XVI taste. Featuring large carved mahogany frames in the style and scale of a marquise bergère with neoclassical motifs of acanthus and rosettes decorating the seat. Crafted in the manner and style of Maison Jansen with a flat squared back and an exposed open frame in the rear. The back gracefully curves down to the padded 24 inch high arms ending with scrolls. Upholstered with a beautiful floral and foliate brocade fabric. The upholstery has a double welt border and extra throw pillow for each chair decorated with tassels. The chairs are supported by fluted, tapered legs. Excellent joinery and craftsmanship from an estate in Beverly Hills, CA.
