Pair of French Louis XVI Style Armchairs with Leopard Print

Fabulous 19th century pair of carved French armchairs featuring a leopard cheetah print upholstery. Made in the grand Louis XVI taste from fruitwood. The chairs have an aged patina on the finish and were upholstered by Ira Yeager (American 1938-2022) for his gallery in Calistoga, CA. Yeager was a Francophile and filled his spaces with 18th-19th century French furniture. The frames have a handsome profile with molded, reeded decoration and rosettes on the seat. The generous seat is bowed in front and supported by classic fluted and tapered legs ending with toupie feet. Later upholstery is vintage but still shows well, and is presentable. Arms measure 27 inches high.
