Pair of Country French Provincial Walnut Carved Armchairs
$5,800.00
Charming pair of late 19th century carved armchairs or lounge chairs featuring newly upholstered walnut frames. The large frames are decorated in the French Provincial or Louis XV taste with shell rocaille motifs on the seat crest and apron. The deep molded frames have a gracefully curved serpentine back and scrolled arms. The generous seats and arms are upholstered with a French ticking stripe style fabric with a khaki stripe. The seats are supported by cabriole legs ending with scrolled feet. The padded arms measure 25 inches high. The frames appear to have an older restoration with excellent joinery and craftsmanship. The chairs are heavy and solid fitted with a deep, loose seat cushion. The frames are stamped made in Italy on the inside.
