Pair of Chinese Oxblood Sang de Boeuf Lang Yao Vases


Distinctive pair of Chinese export vases featuring a deep oxblood Sang de Boeuf color on the Langyao glaze. The vases have a long waisted neck and globular belly. Made in the Jingdezhen kilns the vases have a very fine craquelure on the finish. One vase has a Zhongguo Jingdezhen Zhi stamp in blue on the bottom. The vases were produced in Southern China from a region that has produced pottery since the 6th century A.D. Each vase neck has the characteristic white lip with the color having a flowing effect down the vase becoming darker on the lower section of the vase body.
