Pair of Chinese Export Coromandel Style Lacquered Cabinets

Charming pair of Chinese export cabinets or chests featuring a coromandel lacquered and carved finish. The wooden chests have pairs of doors that open to a red lacquered storage area. The doors are decorated with a walled pavillion having figures engaged in leisurely activities. The hinges pulls and lock plates have a patinated brass finish. The top and front of the chests have scholar's objects with a parcel gilt border. The incised lacquer is painted with colorful pigments that stand out boldly on the black lacquer ground. Supported by brass clad legs on the bottom with a patinated finish. The sides out of the cases feature delicate flora and fauna landscape scenes. Nicely preserved with vibrant colors and a rich aged patina. Made in the 19th century Qing manner and style. From an estate in San Francisco, CA.
