Oronzo Gasparo Past Glories, 1947


Fantastic surreal oil on linen painting by Oronzo Gasparo (American 1903-1969) titled Past Glories. This painting depicts Greco-Roman beauties in a neoclassical style with a colorful surreal interior landscape. Gasparo was born in Italy to Italian and Hindu parents, he was one of seventeen children. The painting is signed and dated lower right 1947. Signed, dated, and titled verso.

Provenance: purchased from Baroness Jean Cacace San Francisco, CA in 1962. Set in a painted wood frame with a faded linen border. Art measures 36 wide by 23.5 inches high.

Condition: Distressed, minor wear consistent with age and use. Beautiful vibrant color with a craquelure patina, and small losses as expected from linen paintings as seen in photos. Age appropriate wear.
