Neoclassical Louis XVI Style Backless Bench Settee

Rare and unusual carved backless bench or settee made in the grand neoclassical French Louis XVI taste. The settee has gracefully curved arms on each side ending with ram's head motifs. The frame has parcel-gilt accents and a subtle aged patina on the finish. The bench could be used on either side as one side has a scalloped or bowed shape and the other side has the rams heads. Topped with a thick, down-filled cushion and three throw pillows in a colorful striped pattern. Could be used in a hall or entry against a wall or at the end of a bed. The set is supported by round tapered legs. From an estate in Bel Air, CA.
